Career and Technical Education Millage
There are just about 3 weeks until Election Day on May 5, 2026, when voters throughout Char-Em ISD will be asked to consider continuing the Career and Technical Education millage that has funded vocational education programs in all districts throughout Charlevoix, Emmet, and northern Antrim County.
Did you know that 80 percent of all high school students in Char-Em take at least one CTE class?
A note about ballot wording: On the official ballot, voters will notice the proposal is worded as an “increase” and not a “renewal." If this is the same millage since 1996, why is the ballot worded this way?
The previous career tech millage levy, approved by voters in 2022, expired on Dec. 31, 2025. That means currently there is no levy for career tech on properties within Char-Em ISD, which makes the millage request on May 5 a “new” levy, if approved. Each millage request has been worded this way since the first renewal in 2000, as it a legal requirement.
The proposed 2026 millage remains the same as what was approved in 2022: 1.0 mill.
