Central Lake Public Schools Welcomes Brad Plackemeier

CENTRAL LAKE, MI — Central Lake Public Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Brad Plackemeier as the new Secondary Principal and Athletic Director at Central Lake Middle/High School. With more than 25 years of experience in education and a leadership path that includes building and district-level roles, Mr. Plackemeier brings a deep understanding of school operations, student development, and academic excellence.
Mr. Plackemeier began his work in Harbor Springs as Middle School Principal, later becoming High School Principal, and eventually serving as Superintendent. During his tenure as superintendent, he led the district through a multi-million-dollar bond project, overseeing the construction of a new elementary school and facility upgrades throughout the district. His leadership emphasized long-term planning, instructional growth,and creating a safe, supportive environment for all students.
Prior to his time in Michigan, Mr. Plackemeier held school administrator roles in Kansas, Missouri, and Colorado. His background also includes experience as a teacher, athletic director, and coach, making him“uniquely suited to oversee both the academic and extracurricular programs at Central Lake”, stated Central Lake Superintendent Dr. Ryan L. Cunningham.
He holds an Education Specialist degree in School Systems, Superintendency, and Leadership from Webster University, a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science from the University of Central Missouri, and is certified in K–12 administration.
Mr. Plackemeier shared his enthusiasm for the new role: “It’s an honor to join Central Lake and to step back into the daily life of a building where relationships are everything. I’m excited to work alongside staff,students, and families to create an environment where everyone feels connected, challenged, and supported.”
Outside of school, Brad enjoys outdoor adventures with his wife Amy and their three children: Brooks, Emme, and Will. A lifelong competitor, he played catcher for the University of Central Missouri’s first national championship baseball team. These days, his competitive spirit lives on at the Crooked Lake Yacht Club,where he plays a mean game of Three Thirteen with a sharp and spirited card crew that rarely lets him win.
