Congratulations to Aspen Evans on being selected as one of ten students statewide to receive the 2026 Jobs for Michigan Graduates Exemplary Youth of the Year Award! This regional honor recognizes students who truly embody the JMG program throughout the State and Aspen does exactly that. She joins fellow Central Lake alumnus Joshua Woollard, who earned this same recognition in 2025.

We are so proud of Aspen. Her resilience and commitment to lifting others up are exactly why she was chosen for this honor. Congratulations, Aspen! We can't wait to see what's next for you!

That's right, vocational education in Charlevoix, Emmet, and northern Antrim counties spans a student's school career, culminating in skilled trades classes in high school and opportunities that link graduates with employers!These initiatives and more are funded by a Career and Technical Education millage, which comes before voters to consider every four years. Char-Em ISD CTE: 23 programs in 50+ classrooms in every Char-Em district!

Did you know that Char-Em ISD's Career and Technical Education (CTE) offerings have grown over the years to now include 23 different programs operating in more than 50 classrooms across Charlevoix, Emmet, and northern Antrim counties? You can find an interactive version of the accompanying map on the CTE website: https://charemisdcareertech.org/interactive-map/
These classes, which take place in every local high school, are a large part of Char-Em's CTE programs and initiatives funded by the CTE millage, which has been approved by voters every four years since 1996 - that's 30 years of support! The next millage request will come before voters on May 5, 2026. Absentee ballots can be requested now. If you'd like to register to vote in person, do so online or by mail by April 20 (or in person up until Election Day).
High school vocational classes are just one part of the K-12 career tech spectrum in Char-Em ISD. Learn more about the many unique initiatives for elementary, middle, and high school students at www.charemisdcareertech.org.

On May 5, 2026, voters in Charlevoix, Emmet, and northern Antrim Counties will be asked to vote on Char-Em ISD's Career and Technical Education millage. This millage has supported career and technical education and initiatives for 30 years, since it was first approved by voters in 1996.

Voters can find information about the request and the programs and initiatives funded by the millage in the accompanying flyers and on the CTE website, www.charemisdcareertech.org. Please reach out to your local superintendent, or ISD Superintendent Scott Koziol with any questions, at (231) 547-9947.

Cheerleaders help local food pantry!

Recently, the Central Lake Varsity Cheerleaders held a non-perishable food drive during the month of November. They were able to provide several families with food this winter. According to Pastor Gary at the Central Lake Community food pantry, this was the most food they have received from a food drive and he was very grateful for their efforts.
